On Friday November 17, 2016, the Florida State College at Jacksonville hosted “Florida Apprenticeship Week” in the Advanced Technology Center at the downtown campus.
Al Herndon from the Florida Masonry Apprentice and Educational Foundation and Tim Hinson from Miller Electric spoke the benefits of apprenticeship for your company and the construction industry.
Representatives from the Federal Bureau of Apprenticeship, and the State Department of Education Apprenticeship Division, the Medical Industry, Manufacturing Industry, Maritime Industry, representatives from various construction trades and public schools, with over 40 people in attendance.

On Friday, November 4, 2016, Bryan Light of Brick Southeast held a hands-on masonry lab for Dr. James Sullivan at University of Florida.
The MEF/MAF holds an annual hands-on masonry lab for the students of Dr. Sullivan's Undergraduate Program at the Rinker School of Construction Management. The M. E. Rinker, Sr., School of Construction Management at the University of Florida prepares graduates for careers in the construction industry. The core curriculum includes a mix of technical, managerial, and business courses. Graduates receive a comprehensive education including theory and practical applications, and they are fully prepared for their responsibilities in the construction.
