Thank you Convention Sponsors!
You are personally invited to attend the 2017 MAF Annual Convention. It’s an exciting time for Masonry Association, as we celebrate our 30-year anniversary and continue to grow and change, remaining always adaptable, motivated and responsive to the masonry industry. Our organization is confronting a time of many changes and we’re meeting these changes with great anticipation of wonderful things to come.
Over the three days of the convention, you will find many opportunities to network with all facets of the masonry industry . The event begins on Thursday night with a Welcome Reception around the pool, giving everyone an opportunity to mingle and catch up. The Fastest Trowel and Apprentice competitions, ProMasonry and Annual Board of Directors meetings are being held on Friday and then Saturday, attend a CE course by Don Beers, PE, GC then spend rest of the day lounging by the pool, playing a round of golf, fishing or floating down the lazy river with a cocktail - just don't forget to complete your scavenger hunt items - 1st prize is $500! Saturday night we will come together to celebrate our 30 years, and honor our talented mason contractors and industry members at the Masonry Excellence & Industry Recognition Awards banquet.
AIA Florida Annual Convention
MAF Participates in the AIA Florida Annual Convention - 3 CEU Courses, Trade Show, Advanced Masonry Course & More!
July 28 - 30, 2017 Naples, Florida
For the 7th year in a row, the Masonry Association of Florida participated in the AIA Florida Annual Convention held in Naples, Florida July 27 - 30, 2017 at the Naples Grande Hotel & Resort.
The event began with a tradeshow on Friday, July 28, 2017. The MAF's Don Beers, PE was on-hand to answer masonry-related questions, assisted by Chris Bettinger and Lisa Pelham (Oldcastle) and Jan Buehler (Fi-Foil).
Saturday morning, the MAF hosted an "Early Bird" session of Design Opportunities with Masonry Construction for 36 architects. The Lunch presentation "Design Opportunities with Masonry Construction Gameshow" continues to be a favorite at the convention, bringing in 80+ architects in attendance. This is always a fun time, with architects competing in teams/table of ten to answer questions about masonry. Winners from the 1st ($25), 2nd ($15) and 3rd ($10) places receive a gift certificate for each person at the table to spend at the AIA Florida bookstore. A good time was had by all!
Sunday morning 's class "Advanced 2016 Masonry Code Changes & Best Practices" was attended by over 180 architects and marks the culmination of a long-held ProMasonry goal to have a masonry related course be required for licensure. The AIA is now requiring that architects in Florida take the MAF codes class as part of their license renewal process every two years. The AIA filmed the course to add it to their online education catalog for their members. The MAF will also have access to the course for engineers, building officials and contractors to view in our very own on-line learning platform. Details on the availability to follow.
